Ayuthaya - former capital of Siam
temples with dogs Located just north of Bangkok is the modern city of Ayuthaya. Our first stop on our ruin run. Ayuthaya served as the royal Siamese capital from 1350 to 1767 but was a Khmer outpost before then. And what remains of these grand eras as far as architecture is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Besides being beautiful the ruins form eerie backdrop to everyday life. There are towers leaning teetering on narrow brick foundations. Trees taking over the structural support of building and statues.
